　林肯（伊萬•麥克格雷格 Ewan McGregor飾）和喬丹（斯嘉麗•約翰遜 Scarlett Johansson飾）以為他們生活在一個與世隔絕的社區里。據科學家說，他們是地球最后一批存活的人類。而在他們這個群體里面，將會抽簽決定人選，派去一個世外桃源的小島上面生活。然而在沒選中之前，他們得忍受沒有自由、備受監管的生活。
　　當林肯和喬丹“幸運”當選后，他們卻發現了一個驚人的秘密——原來所謂的世外桃源島根本不存在，而他們本身，也只是島上居民克隆版本；他們前往小島，迎接來的不是美麗生活，而是掏出他們的鮮活的器官，用以拯救人類。而林肯親眼目睹了他的朋友，如何在手術刀下被解剖。
　　于是，二人的這次當選，也成為了逃出克隆島的絕好機會。
