遠古的波斯是一個神秘的國度，那里有著許多未知的秘密等待人去揭開，誰掌握了打開秘密的鎖匙，誰就能得到神奇而巨大的力量。在帝國某個偏僻而無人問津的地方，有著一把來自于上古時代的利刃匕首。這把匕首有著不可思議的力量，它能夠釋放出“時之砂”，“時之砂”可以讓時間倒流，穿梭于過去的世界里，利用這種可怕的駭人力量，它能夠讓擁有它的人主宰整個世界的過去和未來，它可以拯救世界，亦可以毀滅世界……
　　一場慘烈的戰爭結束了，隨軍出征的波斯王子達斯坦（杰克•吉倫哈爾飾）在清點戰利品的時候，發現了這把能夠釋放“時之砂”的匕首，他并不知道這把匕首擁有那么可怕的力量，達斯坦帶著匕首和其他戰利品回到了波斯，國王弟弟尼扎姆（本•金斯利飾）知道了匕首所擁有“時之砂”力量，他為了一己私欲，設計殺死了國王，并且嫁禍給了達斯坦，同時還釋放了“時之砂”……整個波斯王國的生靈慘遭涂炭，國民消失殆盡，取而代之的是嗜血的惡魔。亡命天涯的達斯坦背負了拯救波斯王國的使命，攜手來歷不明的神秘女郎塔米娜（杰瑪•阿特登飾）公主，踏上了斬妖除魔的驚險旅途………
